Abstract:

A type of fatty acid, medium-chain-triglycerides (MCTs) are quickly absorbed by the body and used for energy, and are less likely to be deposited as fat compared to long chain fatty acids.

From the lab:

  • There are four types of MCTs: caproic acid, caprylic acid, capric acid and lauric acid.
  • Consume 1 tablespoon of MCT oil directly, or mix into water, fruit juice or sports drink. Try using as a unique substitute for conventional oils in salad dressings, sauces and cooking.
